June 16-18, 2022 marked LANGSTON’s fourth-annual “We Out Here” festival, celebrating Black existence and excellence in the Seattle area. Local nonprofit LANGSTON partnered with Friends of Waterfront Seattle to take “We Out Here” to Pier 62 for a larger community celebration. From 2-6 p.m. on June 18, the pier boomed with music and the smell of fresh southern comforts drew in crowds that reached nearly 2,000 people.

My role in promoting the event was to coordinate with media to get the word out to the public, which included collaborating with LANGSTON and Friends of Waterfront Seattle. I also took photos and conducted interviews with attendees to get their take on the celebration.
